23/11/22 – Bristol Centre for Enablement – Annual Consultancy Day

BCE have recently experienced some changes amongst their staff, so decided to use their ACD, split over 2 half days, for some “BEST Super User” training. Every Site should have at least one Super User, as they provide the important link between the every-day BEST Users and Soft Options Support. Whilst Soft Options always respond quickly to Support requests, a good Super User can save valuable time by being able to deal with most queries on the spot, and only referring the more unusual questions on to the Soft Options Support Team.David Potter (Lead Trainer) pre-prepared a couple of training sessions aimed at the budding Super Users, Alison (the new Performance and Operations Manager who has only been in post 3 weeks), and James (one of the Rehab Engineers in the Electronic Assistive Technology Department). The real problem was that they “didn’t know what they didn’t know”, but David used his considerable training skills to deliver perfect targeted courses.

Also on site from Soft Options was Mike Birdsall (Senior Software Developer), who had been invited by Dave Rowland (General Manager) to visit the Centre and present BEST Web and the upcoming BEST Patient Portal development. They also discussed how Text Messaging can be integrated into BEST so that Service Users can receive reminders about upcoming appointments. Mike also had his brain thoroughly picked about how the many BCE Services could continue to develop their use of BEST to drive service improvements and efficiencies.

And after all the remote working of recent years, Mike and David enjoyed the chance to catch up in person over their evening meal in the hotel.
